Yesterday a photographer came by when we were practicing in the park. And today the picture was on page 2 of Aftenposten, a major newspaper.
Unfortunately I’ll be away next week, so my sessions will be discontinued. I’ll be back and having yoga in the park again between the 7th of August and the 12th, when I leave for Australia. Everyone is welcome to join! Meetup every day at 9.30 (apart from on the 7th when it’s 8.30) by the playground … as long as it’s not raining. Bring a mat, blanket or towel. Payment is on donation basis. If you want to pay, sweet! If you’re low on cash, give me a hug or pass the favour forward by doing something nice for someone else!

Simply put, our physical body is made out of what we eat.
That is one of the reasons why in yogic philosophy the outermost aspect of a human being is called the annamaya kosha. To clarify this term, anna means food, maya means appearance and kosha means sheath, or layer. It is seen as one of many layers, like a row of lampshades that give colour and texture to the light.
This is our physical reality as individuals, and where a yoga practice begins. We start by training and nurturing the body. Training and nurturing. And, just like in yoga poses, paying attention and becoming aware of how our bodies respond, is the first and most important step.
That’s why I won’t be giving any hard and fast rules as to what a yogic diet should be. In my honest opinion, every one of us has our unique constitution, our strengths and our weaknesses. We have different lampshades. And because of this, there is no one answer to what the right or wrong food is. Exploring that is a part of the practice.
I can only give you my own experiences, ideas and opinions. Food is something I care deeply about. It is not just about macronutrients and calories. It can be political or ethical. It can also be profoundly emotional.
I hope these posts can inspire, provoke and give you an appetite for more!
